WHY DISNEY?

Bob Iger: Friend of Liberals

It's good to have friends in high places and Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, is a VERY good friend of liberal Democrats.

While many CEOs try to balance their support between the political parties, Iger has given the majority of his money to liberal Democrats including Edward Markey, Patrick Leahy and Henry Waxman.  He has also given money to the leadership PACs of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Of course, Iger can contribute to any political candidate he chooses as long as his personal political views don't interfere with his decisions as Disney's boss: CEOs should not use a company as a vehicle to drive their political agenda.

Yet Iger's decision not to sell the DVD of the ABC TV miniseries "The Path to 9/11" raises the possibility that his judgement was clouded by his political views.

Just before its broadcast, Disney was the target of a firestorm of criticism from liberal activists and politicians - including Bill Clinton (through his lawyer) and recipients of Iger's political dollars.  They were concerned that the miniseries blamed the Clinton administration for the attacks on September 11.

The fact that Iger has given thousands of dollars to promote Hillary Clinton's political career just adds more questions regarding Iger's true loyalties.  Could attention on the events leading to 9/11 harm Hillary's presidential aspirations?

The question remains: Is Iger putting politics before profits?
